Cansever (Dzansever Dalipova), one of the most distinctive voices of 1990s arabesk and Romani music, has passed away at the age of 59 in the hospital where she was receiving treatment. Diagnosed with leukemia last December and having undergone a bone marrow transplant in Germany, the iconic artist succumbed to her illness.
Born on July 8, 1967, in Veles, North Macedonia, Cansever lost an eye in an accident at the age of 12, yet never gave up her passion for music. She achieved nationwide fame in Turkey after performing the folk song "Kara Çadır" on the İbo Show in 1997, followed by the release of her hit album Meçhul. Remembered for classics such as "Ağla Gözbebeğim", "Sen de Gittin", and "Kime Bu İnat", she seamlessly blended Balkan melodies, Romani rhythm, and traditional arabesk throughout her career.
