Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who was referred to the High Disciplinary Board (YDK) of the Republican People's Party (CHP) with a request for his absolute expulsion, announced his resignation from the party. Özcan, who was previously suspended from his mayoral duty as part of an investigation against him, made striking statements regarding his decision.
In his statement, Özcan said
"The collaborative trustee and its gang have referred me to the YDK. I will not present a defense to the so-called YDK of an appointed trustee. At this point, I am resigning from CHP membership until the political junta occupation comes to an end."
Who is Tanju Özcan? Tanju Özcan was born on December 12, 1973, in Bolu. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law and worked as a self-employed lawyer. Within the CHP, he served as Bolu Central District Chairman, a Member of Parliament for Bolu (24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th terms), and a TBMM Clerk Member. Elected as the Mayor of Bolu in 2019, Özcan frequently came to the fore with disciplinary procedures due to his strict policies regarding refugees and conflicts with the party administration
