Shepherd Goes Missing in Kura River in Ardahan: Horse Found Dead

In the village of Ağzıpek, near central Ardahan, 43-year-old shepherd Cengiz İlkaz lost his balance and fell while attempting to cross the Kura River on horseback. After the horse became stuck in the mud and disappeared in the strong current, local bystanders alerted authorities, prompting the dispatch of AFAD, gendarmerie, and medical teams to the area. Search efforts led to the recovery of the horse's carcass, while search and rescue operations for the missing shepherd remain underway along the river and surrounding areas. Marine police support has also been requested from Artvin.
