We receive numerous questions from our readers and viewers regarding why Ardahan Newspaper publishes in three languages—Turkish, Kurdish, and English—and whether there are any British citizens living in Ardahan. We answer this question repeatedly every single year; because our newspaper reaches more people each year, and those who have newly started following us and are unaware of the facts ask us this question annually. Therefore, as the newspaper management, we make it a point to issue this explanation once a year to clarify these highly anticipated matters
First of all, it should be noted that apart from temporary tourists visiting the city, there are no registered British residents living in Ardahan. In general, Ardahan and its districts are predominantly inhabited by Turkish and Kurdish citizens living together in harmony. Looking at the demographic structure of our districts; the Terekeme community is densely populated in the Çıldır district, which also includes some Azerbaijani villages. In the Posof district, there are Turks, Caucasian Turks, and Kurdish villages. In short, Ardahan Center and all its districts possess a rich cultural mosaic where Turkish, Kurdish, Terekeme, and Azerbaijani (azeri) citizens live peacefully
So, if there are no British residents in Ardahan, why do we publish in English? While local newspapers generally only publish in Turkish and focus solely on what is happening in their own villages or districts, Ardahan Newspaper has adopted an extraordinary and visionary approach. We are a global publication that focuses not only on local news but also on provincial, national, and even international developments. Today, English is a global language, and it allows our newspaper to make its voice heard in the international arena. Although we occasionally publish in Russian, Persian, and Arabic, our main core consists of Kurdish, Turkish, and English. With this vision, Ardahan Newspaper will continue to break local boundaries and open up to the world.
